.About the Artist

Julie Newdoll has been painting in oils since 1976. Torn between art and science in college, she ended up with a degree in Microbiology, and a minor in art. Following this, she received a masters in Medical Illustration. The world of microscopic images and molecules first appeared in her artwork in 1990, while she was employed as a scientific visualization specialist at the University of California at San Francisco. Following this experience, she spent a few years as the Supervising Technical Director at Tippett Studio, directing the lighting for the special effects in films such as Starship Troopers. Currently, she is pursuing art full time in her company "Brush with Science".
